SLDL7100 Series MagScan Magnetostrictive Level Meter is a high-end continuous measuring instrument built by SOLIDAT for high-precision liquid metering. Based on the magnetostrictive effect and time-difference ranging principle, it can accurately measure liquid level, interface level, multi-point temperature and average temperature at the same time. 2. Working Principle
The SLDL7100 series magnetostrictive level meter consists of an electronic compartment, a waveguide wire probe rod and a float with a magnetic ring.
When working, the electronic components of the sensor apply an excitation pulse current to the waveguide wire, which propagates along the waveguide wire and forms a pulse magnetic field around it.
The float outside the probe rod floats up and down with the liquid level, and the permanent magnetic ring inside the float forms a fixed magnetic field.
When the pulse magnetic field meets the magnetic ring magnetic field at the float position, the sudden change of the magnetic field causes the waveguide wire made of magnetostrictive material to generate a torsional wave pulse.
The torsional wave is transmitted back to the electronic compartment along the waveguide wire at a fixed speed and detected.
By accurately measuring the time difference between the excitation pulse and the echo pulse, the position of the float, that is, the real height of the liquid level and interface level, is directly calculated. The measurement process has no mechanical wear, no drift, and long-term stability.

5. Installation Instructions
Installation method
Top-mounted vertical installation is the recommended method, fixed on the top of the tank with flanges or threads, the probe is vertically inserted into the medium, and the inclination angle is not more than 5°.
Empty-tank-free installation can be completed without shutdown and emptying, greatly reducing construction costs and downtime risks.
For installation in stirring and impact conditions, a baffle can be installed at the bottom to stabilize the liquid level for slight fluctuations, and a protective tube or sieve tube with pressure balance holes must be installed for severe fluctuations to ensure consistent liquid levels inside and outside the tube, protect the probe and improve measurement stability.
Installation points
The probe must be kept vertical to avoid bending and extrusion.
There are no obstacles in the moving area of the float to ensure smooth up and down movement.
The flange is reliably sealed, and a sealing gasket suitable for the medium is selected.
The instrument shell is reliably grounded to improve lightning protection and anti-interference capabilities.
Wiring shall strictly comply with explosion-proof specifications, no exposed wires, and waterproof connectors shall be installed outdoors.
