Suspended Solids Analyzer

The working principle of the suspended solids (sludge) concentration meter is based on optical laws and photoelectric conversion technology. Its core logic lies in leveraging the absorption, reflection, and scattering effects of suspended particles in water on light to establish a quantitative relationship between the transmittance of incident light and the concentration of suspended solids. Optical studies have shown that there is an inverse proportional relationship between the concentration of suspended solids in water samples and the transmittance of incident light. That is, the higher the concentration of suspended solids, the greater the degree to which suspended particles "intercept" the light during its transmission in the water sample, resulting in less light being able to transmit through. Regarding the operation of the instrument, the MLSS suspended solids (sludge) concentration meter is equipped with a built-in infrared light source. When in operation, this light source emits infrared beams that penetrate the water sample. During the propagation process, the beams encounter suspended particles. Some of the light is absorbed and converted into heat energy, some is reflected and changes its propagation direction, and some deviates from its original path due to scattering, leaving only a small amount of light able to reach the built-in detector. The detector converts the received optical signal into an electrical signal, and the instrument further uses the Lambert-Beer law to calculate the detected transmittance data, ultimately converting it into the corresponding value of suspended solids concentration, thus achieving the quantitative detection of suspended solids content in water samples.
