The working principle of ultrasonic liquid level gauge is that the ultrasonic pulse emitted by the transducer (probe) is reflected back when it encounters the surface of the medium to be measured, and part of the reflected echo is received by the same transducer and converted into an electrical signal. Ultrasonic pulses propagate at the speed of sound waves, and the time interval required from transmitting to receiving the ultrasonic echo pulse is proportional to the distance from the transducer to the surface of the measured medium. The relationship between this distance value S and the speed of sound C and transmission T can be expressed by the formula: S=CxT/2.
Since the emitted ultrasonic pulse has a certain width, the reflected wave and the emitted wave overlap in a small area close to the transducer, making it impossible to identify and measure the distance value. This area is called the measurement dead zone. The size of the blind zone is related to the model of ultrasonic water depth meter.
