1. Product Overview
The Industrial Tank Side Indicator is an integrated on-site acquisition and control terminal specially developed for tank farm metering systems. It centrally completes collection, calculation, remote uploading and over-limit audible & visual alarm of various sensor data on storage tanks. Equipped with an LCD operation panel, it supports on-site parameter configuration of all connected sensors without upper computer access.
Compatible with liquid level meters, RTD temperature transmitters, pressure gauges, tuning fork switches and other tank measuring instruments, this device embeds dedicated algorithms for liquid volume and mass calculation, and supports data correction via VCF tables and pressure-volume correction tables. It is equipped with multiple isolated communication channels compatible with Modbus and HART+4~20mA dual buses, enabling multi-variable synchronous monitoring and relay alarm output. Compliant with the national standard GB/T 18268-2010 for electromagnetic compatibility of industrial electrical control equipment, the instrument adopts an explosion-proof operable design. 2. Working Principle
Unified Multi-sensor Signal Collection The tank-side indicator is fitted with 4 universal input channels switchable between RS485 Modbus and HART+4~20mA buses. It synchronously reads all IO monitoring variables including tank liquid level, medium temperature, internal pressure and switch signals, enabling centralized management of all measuring instruments for a single tank via one terminal.
Accurate Tank Material Measurement & Calculation Dedicated built-in programs calculate tank volume and mass, automatically retrieving VCF volume correction and pressure-volume compensation parameters to calibrate raw measured data in real time. Standard volume and total medium mass are output automatically to eliminate manual conversion errors and meet the precision requirements of trade measurement.
On-site Parameter Configuration Without Casing Opening The whole machine features a sealed explosion-proof housing. All instrument communication addresses, measuring ranges, alarm thresholds and compensation parameters can be set via front panel display and buttons. Operations can be completed without opening the casing under hazardous working conditions to ensure explosion-proof operation safety on site.
Local Storage of Historical Data The device automatically stores all monitoring data at a fixed 30-second recording interval, with uninterrupted local retention for up to 6 months. Complete metering records are fully preserved under network disconnection, and batch uploaded to the central control system once communication is restored.
Over-limit Safety Alarm Output Two independent built-in relay output ports are available. When parameters such as liquid level, temperature and pressure exceed preset upper/lower limits, external alarm devices will be automatically triggered to realize safety early warning against tank overflow, overtemperature and overpressure.

5. Installation & Operation Instructions
5.1 Recommended Installation Method
Wall-mounted or pipe-clamp vertical installation beside storage tanks. The installation height shall facilitate screen viewing and operation at eye level. For petroleum and chemical hazardous tank areas, construction must strictly comply with explosion-proof electrical specifications, and explosion-proof waterproof cable glands shall be matched for all cable ports.
5.2 Key Wiring Standards
Separate communication signal cables from high-power electric cables to reduce electromagnetic signal interference.
Reliably ground the instrument metal housing to improve lightning, surge and anti-interference performance.
Bare copper cores of cables are prohibited in wiring for explosion-proof zones; all joints shall be sealed and waterproof. Additional rain and sun protection accessories are required for outdoor installation.
Route multi-channel sensor buses separately to prevent signal crosstalk between different instruments.
5.3 On-site Commissioning Procedures
After wiring completion, all instrument communication addresses, measuring ranges, compensation parameters and alarm thresholds can be set via the front LCD panel without disassembling the instrument casing.
After connecting liquid level, temperature and pressure sensors, activate the built-in VCF and pressure-volume compensation algorithms to verify the metering precision of tank volume and mass.
Set high/low limit alarm values for each parameter, and test whether the 2 relay outputs can normally drive on-site audible & visual alarm equipment.
