Radar Material Meter Measurement in The Era Of Automation: Full Analysis Of Error Sources

Radar material mete has become a common material level meter measurement tool today. However, despite its excellent performance in the measurement process, radar type level transmitter will also face various challenges, leading to errors in measurement results. The main reasons can be summarized as the following four aspects.

1. Blind spot problem in the measurement process
During the measurement process of Radar material meter, due to the characteristics of the liquid itself and the limitations of the instrument probe, blind areas may appear, resulting in inaccurate data. Among them, the upper and lower blind areas are called the upper blind area and the lower blind area respectively. The upper blind zone refers to the smallest measurable distance between the liquid surface and the upper reference point, approximately between 0.1 and 0.5 meters. The lower blind zone is located at the bottom of the probe, and its measurement results are not affected by changes in the liquid in the tank.
2. Errors caused by liquid properties
When measuring liquid level with a radar type level transmitter, the dielectric constant of the upper liquid must be at least 10 units higher than the dielectric constant of the lower liquid. If the difference between the two is less than 10 units, it may cause fluctuations in the measurement results. In addition, when the thickness of the upper liquid is too low, signal superposition during the measurement process will also affect the accuracy of the results.
3. The influence of liquid viscosity on measurement
If the liquid being measured has a high viscosity, it may adhere to the probe and interfere with signal transmission, thereby causing errors. In extreme cases, adhesion between the probes may make measurements difficult, so it is crucial to clean and maintain the probes regularly.
4. Error of the instrument itself
Although the radar level meter manufacturer uses advanced measurement technology and is resistant to pressure and corrosion, and is not affected by ambient temperature and humidity, errors may still occur due to improper installation of the radar type level transmitter. Therefore, during the installation process, be sure to follow the guidance of professional engineers and strictly follow the instruction manual to ensure the accuracy of measurement results.
