The radio frequency admittance level switch is a widely used level measurement equipment primarily employed to monitor the height of materials such as plastics, feed, grains, rubber, pharmaceuticals, sand, cement, coatings, and pulp. Many people may be curious about the differences between the radio frequency admittance level switch and the radar level gauge.

The difference between RF admittance and radar level meter

1. Different Working Principles

The Radar Level Gauge Working Principle is based on the time-domain reflection principle, where an antenna emits microwave pulses. When the pulse encounters the surface of the medium being measured, a portion of the energy is reflected back and subsequently received by the same antenna. Through the principle of time delay, the propagation time of the pulse is proportional to the distance between the antenna and the medium's surface, allowing the distance between them to be calculated.

In contrast, the radio frequency admittance level switch measures the level by sensing the change in reactance between the storage tank and the measuring electrode. When the medium covers the measuring electrode, the reactance changes, causing the bridge circuit to become unbalanced, thus stopping the oscillating signal. The subsequent circuit detects this change and outputs a signal.

2. Differences in Technical Advantages

Radar level gauges can continuously measure liquids, powders, and slurries without being affected by the type of medium, temperature, inert gases, steam, dust, or foam. Its accuracy reaches 1 mm, with a measuring range of up to 120 m and a working temperature of up to 200℃.

In comparison, the radio frequency admittance switch offers broad applicability, especially for measuring fly ash, solid particles, and viscous materials. Its design includes an external dual-color LED indicator and a rotating meter for easy remote observation. This device features high sensitivity and reliability, with a modular design that simplifies installation and maintenance. Its casing is made of stainless steel, providing strong impact resistance and the ability to withstand working temperatures of up to 800℃.

3. Differences in Application Fields

Radar level gauges are suitable for various industries such as construction materials, chemicals, water conservancy, electricity, environmental protection, cement, food, and pharmaceuticals. They can measure liquids like water, industrial wastewater, acidic and alkaline solutions, and cement slurry, as well as various solid materials and chemical raw materials.

Conversely, radio frequency admittance switches are mainly used to measure fly ash, solid particles, liquids, and viscous materials. They are widely applied in large storage tanks and silos in industries such as metallurgy, environmental protection, chemicals, electricity, and cement, especially excelling in ash level control in power plant dust collectors and ash silos.
