Ultrasonic Level Transducer Installation Precautions And Maintenance Points

May 31, 2024|

Ultrasonic level meter is a non contact level measurement device that uses the time between the emission and reception of sound waves to calculate the distance from the sensor to the object being measured. Ultrasonic transducer instruments do not contain mechanical moving parts, so they have the characteristics of high reliability, simple installation process and easy operation, and are not affected by factors such as liquid viscosity and density. As a non contact level measurement device, ultrasonic level meter is widely used in petroleum, chemical, tap water, sewage treatment, water conservancy and hydrology, steel, coal, electricity, food processing and other industries.

1. Ultrasonic level transmitter installation precautions

1. In order to reduce measurement errors, the ultrasonic level meter should be kept as far away from the inner wall of the container as possible and installed at the top of the container, while ensuring that the incident angle of the sound wave is perpendicular to the horizontal plane so that the ultrasonic transceiver sensing surface is parallel to the liquid surface.

2. Vibration or shaking may cause the Ultrasonic level transmitter to loosen, so avoid installing it in a strong vibration area. If it must be installed in a light vibration area, a rubber shock absorber should be used and ensure that it is firmly installed.

3. When installing multiple ultrasonic level meters in the same container, care should be taken to avoid mutual interference and measurement errors. Try not to install multiple Ultrasonic level transmitters in the same container.

4. The ultrasonic level meter should be installed away from the feed port and ensure that there are no obstacles to avoid interference from materials or obstacles.

5. The height from the surface of the ultrasonic transducer to the top of the pool or the highest liquid level should be greater than the blind area of the instrument.

6. The installation height of the ultrasonic transducer surface should be less than the range of the instrument. The distance from the ultrasonic transducer to the pool wall, river bank, and embankment generally needs to be greater than 0.5 meters. If the distance from the surface of the ultrasonic transducer to the highest liquid level is less than 0.5 meters, an extension tube should be welded on the blind plate cover to increase the distance from the surface of the transducer to the highest liquid level.

7. For ultrasonic level meters installed outdoors, in humid rooms, and on refrigerated or heated tanks, the cable gland should be tightened and the cable bent downward to prevent the circuit board from getting wet.

8. Avoid installing the Ultrasonic level transmitter in areas exposed to direct sunlight. When installing in open-air places, a protective cover should be added to avoid the influence of temperature differences such as sun and rain on the measurement accuracy.

2. Maintenance precautions for Ultrasonic level transmitters

In the process of daily use and maintenance of ultrasonic level meters, the following points should usually be noted:

1. Check whether the instrument is intact from the appearance.

2. Check whether the pressure, process temperature, ambient temperature, measurement range, etc. meet the technical requirements of the instrument.

3. Check whether the measured value is consistent with the actual value.

4. Check whether protective measures for sunshade and rain protection have been taken for the ultrasonic level.

5. Regularly check whether the sealing plug and shell cover of the ultrasonic level meter cable are tightened and whether the position of the terminal is correct. If there is an auxiliary power supply, check whether the display module is displayed.
