Analysis And Improvement Of Measurement Errors in Radar Level Measurement
Oct 10, 2024| In general, if the level feedback is inaccurate or delayed, it can easily lead to overflow incidents, posing significant safety risks. Therefore, the requirements for radar level meter measurement are very high. However, Radar wave level meters often experience abnormal level jumps or drops, and may even freeze, resulting in measurement errors that affect production and sales. Radar level meter manufacturer need to explore ways to reduce these errors.

Causes of Measurement Errors in Radar Level Gauges
1.AC Interference and Voltage Issues: In practical applications, Radar wave level meters typically require a 24VDC power supply. However, field measurements may reveal voltages as high as 27V, significantly exceeding the standard value, which leads to high and may cause equipment failures.
2.Improper Installation Location: If a radar level gauge is installed in an unsuitable location, such as near the discharge point of a return conveyor in a transfer bin, it may be affected by falling materials, causing false reflections that impact measurement accuracy.
3.Dust Accumulation on the Transmitter: Due to the dusty working environment, the transmitter of the radar wave level meter can easily accumulate dust. Moisture-laden dust can adhere to the transmitter, altering the dielectric constant and affecting measurement precision and stability.
4.Other Interference Factors: Factors such as excessive stacking angles of the measured material and uneven reflection surfaces can also lead to level fluctuations. Additionally, if the dielectric constant is low, poor radar wave reflection, noise, and false echoes can further affect measurement results.
Improvement Measures to Reduce Measurement Errors in Radar Level Gauges
1.Install Isolation Devices: To reduce AC interference, isolation modules arranged in parallel can be installed between the power supply and the instrument to address issues of high voltage during signal transmission.
2.Optimize Installation Location and Angle: Based on measurement conditions, select the installation position and tilt angle of the radar wave level meter appropriately.
3.Keep the Transmitter Clean: Regularly clean the transmitter of the radar level gauge to prevent dust and moisture accumulation. A plastic film can be added at the antenna's horn to facilitate regular cleaning, ensuring the transmitter remains dust-free and improving measurement accuracy.
4.Digital Filtering Processing: To enhance measurement accuracy, data should be subjected to noise reduction processing. Increasing software filter time and using data smoothing methods can help eliminate noise, resulting in measurement data that better reflects actual conditions.
By implementing the above improvement measures, the measurement errors of radar wave level meters can be effectively reduced, thereby enhancing the safety and efficiency of the production process.
