Advantages And Applications Of Ultrasonic Level Meters in Sewage Treatment
Apr 25, 2025| In the sewage treatment process, precise liquid level measurement is crucial for ensuring treatment efficiency and stable operation of equipment. Ultrasonic Level Meters, as an advanced measuring instrument, are playing an indispensable role.
Based on the principle of ultrasonic ranging, Ultrasonic Level Meters emit ultrasonic pulse signals from sensors. When the pulse encounters the liquid surface, it is reflected back, and the sensors receive the reflected waves. By calculating the time difference between emission and reception, combined with the sound velocity, the liquid level height can be accurately determined.
In sewage treatment, its advantages are remarkable:
1. Firstly, Ultrasonic Level Meters adopt non-contact measurement, without direct contact with the sewage, avoiding corrosion and pollution from the sewage, which greatly extends the service life of equipment and reduces maintenance costs.
2. Secondly, it has high measurement accuracy and stability, and can adapt to complex sewage environments. Whether it is high turbidity, foamy sewage, or scenarios with volatile gases, it can provide reliable measurement data.
In practical applications, Ultrasonic Level Meters are active in multiple key scenarios of sewage treatment.
1. In sewage lift stations, it continuously monitors the liquid level height of the collecting tank. When the water level reaches the preset upper limit, it automatically starts the water pump to lift and convey the sewage, preventing overflow; when the water level drops to the lower limit, it stops the water pump in time to prevent idle operation of the pump, ensuring the efficient and stable operation of the station.
2. Entering the grit chamber, Ultrasonic Level Meters can monitor the liquid level difference before and after the grit screen in real time. Once the liquid level difference exceeds the set threshold, it means that the grit chamber may be blocked by a large amount of floating debris. The system will immediately issue an alarm and automatically start the grit cleaning machine for cleaning, ensuring smooth passage of sewage and avoiding damage to subsequent treatment equipment due to blockage.
3. In the aeration tank, Ultrasonic Level Meters not only measure the liquid level but also interact with the aeration control system. According to the liquid level changes, they adjust the aeration volume in real time: when the liquid level rises, they automatically increase the aeration volume to ensure that microorganisms in the sewage have sufficient oxygen for biochemical reactions; when the liquid level drops, they reduce the aeration volume accordingly, achieving energy conservation and consumption reduction, while maintaining good sewage treatment effects.
4. The secondary sedimentation tank, as an important place for sludge-water separation, uses Ultrasonic Level Meters to continuously monitor the liquid level in the tank. Combined with sludge concentration data, it precisely controls the operation of sludge return pumps and sludge discharge pumps. Reasonable adjustment of sludge discharge cycles and amounts can prevent sludge from staying in the tank for too long, causing flotation, and ensure that the returned sludge meets the requirements of biochemical treatment, guaranteeing sedimentation effect and effluent quality.
With technological development, Ultrasonic Level Meters can also be combined with automated control systems to achieve intelligent management of the sewage treatment process, safeguarding the efficient treatment of sewage
