Real-time Monitoring Of Acid Dew Point Temperature, The Role Of H2SO4 Acid Dew Point Analyzer in Petroleum Refining

Jun 17, 2024|

The acid dew point temperature can be simply understood as the temperature at which sulfuric acid vapor in the flue gas begins to condense, or more intuitively, it is a key parameter for measuring the concentration of saturated water vapor in the flue gas. In petroleum refining enterprises, heating furnaces and boilers often use various fuels such as natural gas, refinery dry gas, coal and heavy oil. These fuels contain sulfur elements to varying degrees. During the combustion process, sulfur elements will oxidize to form sulfur dioxide (SO2), and some SO2 will further oxidize to sulfur trioxide (SO3) under certain conditions. Since flue gas usually contains both SO3 and water vapor, sulfuric acid vapor (H2SO4) will be generated when the two meet, resulting in an increase in the acid dew point temperature of the flue gas.

When the exhaust temperature is lower than the acid dew point temperature of the flue gas, sulfuric acid vapor will condense in the flue and heat exchanger to form a sulfuric acid solution. Such a sulfuric acid solution is highly corrosive and will cause serious corrosion damage to the equipment, which may cause problems such as heat exchanger leakage and flue damage. Therefore, accurate measurement and monitoring of the acid dew point temperature of flue gas is essential to protect equipment and extend its service life.

The chemical reaction process is as follows:

S + O2 → SO2

2 SO2 + O2 → 2 SO3

SO3 + H2O → H2SO4

H2SO4 acid dew point analyzer

In this context, the application of H2SO4 acid dew point analyzer becomes particularly important. Flue gas acid dew point meter can monitor the acid dew point temperature in flue gas in real time, helping enterprises to take protective measures in time to prevent equipment from being corroded. This instrument can not only improve the operating efficiency of equipment, but also reduce downtime and maintenance costs caused by equipment damage, thereby improving the safety and economic benefits of the entire refining process.

By using H2SO4 acid dew point analyzer, petroleum refining enterprises can more accurately control the flue gas emission temperature and avoid acid dew point corrosion caused by too low temperature. In this way, it can not only effectively protect key equipment such as heat exchangers and flues, but also ensure the stability and continuity of the production process.

H2SO4 acid dew point analyzer plays an indispensable role in the modern petroleum refining industry, providing a solid guarantee for the safe operation of equipment.
