Radar Level Gauge Deal With Special Situations Such As Foam And Scarring, SOLIDAT Recommends Solutions

Mar 27, 2024|

High-frequency Radar level gauge is an advanced radar level measuring instrument with a measuring distance of up to 120 meters. By further optimizing the antenna processing and equipping it with a new fast microprocessor, the instrument can perform signal analysis and processing at a higher rate, making it suitable for solid materials, process containers or dust scenes that are prone to crystallization and condensation.

Because Radar level gauge uses microwave technology to detect material level, it has good penetrability, strong adaptability, and can carry out accurate measurements in harsh environments and various material conditions. Using radar principles and digital signal processing technology, the instrument can accurately measure the material level of liquids and solids (including blocks and powders).

When applying Radar level gauge on site, you may encounter some special situations. Here are some workarounds for special situations:

1. When there is dense foam on the surface of the measured medium, especially neutral foam, it will affect the measurement results of the radar type level indicator. In this case, it is not recommended to use a radar type level transmitter because foam can interfere with the measurement results of the medium. However, dry and wet foam can reflect radar waves without affecting the measurement results.

2. If you encounter scarring on the probe, you can consider raising the installation position of the probe. If it is not possible to raise the installation position, the problem can be solved by adjusting the liquid level measurement settings.

3. Slurry may overflow from the exhaust pipe at the working site. At this time, you can consider using a waveguide type Radar level gauge, and install the waveguide near the exhaust pipe to prevent the material level gauge from being affected by the slurry.

4. If you encounter scarring on the radar type level indicator antenna, you can judge the degree of impact on the measurement based on the dielectric constant. Compressed air or cleaning fluid can be used to clean scabs, but material level measurement cannot be performed during cleaning.
