Parameters You Need To Know When Selecting A Continuous Wave Radar Level Gauge

May 22, 2024|

Continuous wave radar is a very common level measurement tool, which is widely used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, food and other industries. When selecting a radar level gauge, we need to know some common parameters to ensure that we choose a product that suits our needs.

Continuous wave radar level measurement selection factors

1. We need to determine the range to be measured and the size of the blind zone. The measurement range of continuous wave radar is usually within 120 meters, and the size of the blind zone also varies. Different products will have different performances in this regard, so special attention needs to be paid when selecting radar level gauges.

2. We need to confirm the type of medium being measured. The medium can be liquid or solid, such as clean water, sewage, mud, gasoline, diesel, toluene, sulfur dioxide, ore, coal, cement, soybeans, wheat, corn, flour, etc. Different properties of the medium will also have different effects on the measurement. If it is a liquid, you need to consider whether the liquid surface will produce steam, mist, foam, waves, stirring, floating objects and other factors; if it is a solid, you need to consider whether the medium will produce dust and whether the medium is granular or powdery.

3. The low/high temperature and small/high pressure of the medium are also very important parameters. These parameters are one of the important conditions for determining the suitability of selected products, and the performance of different products will also differ in this regard.

4. The corrosiveness of the medium is also a factor that needs to be considered. If the product needs to be measured in a jar, we need to know what the jar is made of and whether it has a corrosion-resistant lining. Depending on the corrosiveness of the medium, it is very important to choose a suitable continuous wave radar product.

5. Whether anti-corrosion and explosion-proof is required, and whether it is split or integrated also needs to be considered. These factors will affect the use environment and requirements of the product, and after being considered, the product can be selected more accurately.

6. The working environment is also a factor that needs to be considered when selecting radar level gauges. Different working environments will also have a great impact on the applicability of the product. For example, open pools, covered pools, horizontal tanks, vertical tanks, spherical tanks, etc., whether the tanks are ventilated to atmospheric pressure, etc.

7. We need to confirm parameters such as working power supply and output signal. The power supply type of continuous wave radar products can be DC 24VDC or AC 220VAC; the output signal can be 4~20mA current, or it can be 485 communication output, or requires relay output, etc.

8. Installation method: Determine the installation method of the radar level meter, such as flange installation, flange plug-in installation, flange suspension installation, etc., to ensure that the equipment can be installed correctly and operate stably.

When choosing a continuous wave radar that suits your needs, you need to consider many parameters, but these parameters are very important and help ensure the correctness of the selection and improve work efficiency and production benefits.
