Some people may not be familiar with the concept of the dry quenching furnace storage chamber's material level, but the process of dry quenching itself is likely well-known. In the dry quenching system, the measurement of the material level in the dry quenching furnace storage chamber is a crucial operational parameter that must be given significant attention. So, what aspects should we pay special attention to when using radar level gauges?

Non-contact CDQ material level measurement

1.We need to understand that the medium in the furnace is red coke, with temperatures reaching around 1000℃. When selecting a radar level gauge, it is essential to consider its temperature range; opting for a non-contact radar level meter will ensure proper operation.

2.In addition to temperature, we must also consider interference sources in the furnace, such as dust. Typically, dust does not affect radar level gauges; however, excessive dust may impact the measurement accuracy. To address this issue, we can choose high-frequency radar level meters.

3.When the medium in the furnace exhibits coking and shows some degree of slope, it may also affect the reflection of the non-contact radar level meter. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the installation position of the radar level gauge to ensure its accuracy.

It is worth noting that during the operation of the dry quenching furnace, the internal temperature can reach up to 1100℃, while it usually maintains around 1050℃. The heat radiation and conduction in such a high-temperature environment could potentially damage certain components of the non-contact radar level meter. Hence, when selecting and installing the radar level gauge, it may be beneficial to include cooling and cleaning devices, such as an automatic blowing system. Additionally, using thermal insulation is also an effective measure, and combining these methods when necessary can help reduce the impact of coking on measurements.

With the continuous advancement and cost reduction of non-contact radar level meter technology, more steel enterprises are beginning to replace other measurement methods with radar level gauges. Furthermore, radar level gauges and level sensors are widely applied across various industries. It is believed that, in the near future, radar level gauges will have a broader market and development prospects.
