Does Temperature And Pressure Affect Electromagnetic Wave Radar Level Gauges?

Jul 03, 2024|

With the advancement of technology and the development of science and technology, more and more factories have begun to implement fully automated industrial production. In this process, electromagnetic wave radar level gauges are crucial. Many times, users who buy radar level gauges usually pay attention to their range and application range, but often ignore the impact of temperature and pressure on the performance of radar level gauges.

The influence of temperature and pressure on electromagnetic wave radar level gauge

When browsing the manual of radar level gauges, we often see such a statement: "Almost unaffected by temperature and pressure changes." This sentence accurately reflects the degree of influence of temperature and pressure on radar level gauges. Although temperature and pressure have a certain impact on radar level gauges, this impact is minimal.

The microwave pulses emitted by radar level gauges are electromagnetic waves, which are not affected by the air density in the tank during propagation. Therefore, even in a high-pressure environment, radar level gauges can work normally. However, due to the structural limitations of the electromagnetic wave radar level gauge itself, when the pressure exceeds a certain range, the measurement may be erroneous. Therefore, as long as the radar level gauge operates within the specified pressure range, its measurement performance will not be affected in any way.

The same is true for temperature. The electromagnetic waves emitted by the radar level meter do not need to be transmitted through a medium (including air), so their propagation speed will not be affected by changes in the air temperature in the tank. However, some components of the electromagnetic wave radar level meter are sensitive to temperature, so the measurement accuracy of the radar level meter will not be affected when operating within the specified temperature range. However, once the specified temperature range is exceeded, measurement errors may occur.

Therefore, whether in terms of temperature and pressure of the radar level meter, keeping the electromagnetic wave radar level meter within the specified operating range is the key to ensuring its stability and accuracy.
