Application And Challenges Of Radar Level Meters in The Chemical Industry: Accurate Measurement Under Complex Working Conditions

Jul 25, 2024|

There are many types of liquid media in the chemical industry, and storage tanks are widely used and have various working conditions. Among the many working conditions, three are more common. The following is a brief summary to help you choose radar level meters in the chemical industry.

Radar level meter measurement application in chemical industry

1. Resin device heating stirring kettle. Under this working condition, the medium in the stirring kettle has high viscosity, the temperature is as high as 330°C, and it is equipped with a stirring device. For such conditions, it is recommended to choose a high-temperature non-contact radar level meter. Due to the high viscosity of the medium, the use of guided wave radar level meters may cause the detection components to be adhered or broken, thereby affecting the measurement accuracy.

2. Water washing tower, used to remove useless components or solid dust particles in the gas. The medium in the water washing tower is complex, with water and raw materials, and its interface is not clear. In such a complex situation, radar level meters with general performance often cannot accurately measure the liquid level. Therefore, professionals recommend the selection of guided wave radar level meters, whose emitted radar waves will not attenuate when propagating through the detection components, and can effectively meet the measurement needs of complex media.

3. Stripping tower, used to remove oligomers in resin devices. The medium in the stripping tower is also highly viscous, with a temperature of up to 300°C, and the presence of a heating coil, which is prone to boiling, foaming and water vapor. In this case, the selection and installation of radar level meters in the chemical industry are particularly critical. It is recommended to give priority to non-contact radar level meter models, and add cooling and purge devices when necessary to ensure the stability of the measurement.

The working conditions in the chemical industry are very complex, involving multiple factors such as explosion protection, chemical reactions, temperature and pressure. When choosing a suitable radar level meter in the chemical industry, it is recommended to consult relevant technicians to avoid unnecessary trouble and losses.
